Dust On The Lens
With These Hills We Should Close Our Eyes
Just a quick note this week, I have to get my shit together for the LA show this weekend, I have a cab coming to pick me up at 5AM and I need to get to sleep soon, and, of course, I still have to pack.
ATTENTION: Anyone paying for entrance to the film "The Hills Have Eyes", PLEASE be aware that you will NOT get your money back when you realize how bad this movie is. I'm not even sure I can put into words how awful this debaucle is. There is plenty of gratuitous violence and lots of gory death shots, but other than that, no good use at all. Anyone who has seen the better, original film by Wes Craven, who does get a producer credit here, will know after 20 minutes how bad this is gonna go. This thing should've been about 35 minutes shorter, but they spend all this time setting up the main characters and developing their relationships just to knock off 3 of them in one 10 minute sequence.
Perhaps the most embarrassing fact here, is in the opening credits, you see Billy Drago listed. Now, anyone who knows movies, knows Billy. He's probably most well known for playing the white-suited assassin in "The Untouchables" but has been in countless films in bit roles, but he's the most known actor in this ensemble. Unless you want to argue Emilie de Ravin, from "LOST" fame. Anyways, Billy's screen time is about 4 minutes, I would guess, and almost right at the end, too. Just terrible.
This movie seriously sucks, save your money and go see something else, or better yet, wait until this weekend and see "V for Vendetta" or wait a week and see the new Spike Lee film, "Inside Man". Seriously, how good does this thing look? It's got Oscar written all over it.
Anyways, I'm off to pack and get ready for another grand Wizard World show in sunny LA. I'll be back next week with review of "V" and hopefully some good stories from the show.
peace,
sh
